Learning Objectives

  • To enable participants to understand what legislation and procedures underpin the role of the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)
  • To assist participants to develop an understanding of their responsibilities when an allegation is made about a member of staff/volunteer
  • To understand the role of the LADO within the context of managing allegations against the children’s workforce.
  • The course will also use case studies and learning from serious case reviews to promote better understanding of some of the key themes around organisational risk
  • To facilitate understanding of the different levels of DBS checks, what regulated activity with children is and when a referral should be made to DBS.
