- ACES - the Classical Research
- Current research and practice - The evidence of ACEs in Social Care, and particularly the effects in adolescence, looked after children and placement breakdown, impact on children’s health, self- harming behaviour , offending behaviour , related gang and substance abusing, impact of exposure to war and refugees
- The importance of early identification and intervention with ACEs when identified.
- The impact of ACEs and the neurobiological evidence - toxic stress, inflammatory responses, temperament, and social support and factors which increase or lessen the impact
- A review of therapeutic approaches - trauma informed care
- The relevance and value of a modular approach to meet the complex needs of children and families
- The assessment process including a discussion of the value of the ACEs framework, and the introduction of the 7 stage process of assessment, information gathering , analysis including the ACE score, and establishing protection needs, and the capacity for response to intervention
- Exploration of the relevance to participants work task, and future planning - training
