Detail:

This workshop explores the outcomes of independent scrutiny in relation to adultification in Merton, commissioned by the Merton Safeguarding Children Partnership, and draws on themes identified in work by Jahnine Davis on adultification bias in child protection and safeguarding.

Adultification is a concept describing when children are not afforded notions of innocence and vulnerability and are put at risk by those who do so. Adultification is always founded within discrimination and bias.

This workshop will focus on:

  • how to identify adultification,
  • good practice taking place,
  • risks and impacts associated with adultification,
  • collectively creating a space to recognise and challenge adultification.
